Karen Leslie

Founder and CEO

Karen is founder and CEO of Bespoke Treatment Barbados (BTB) and a pioneer in the mental health and wellbeing industry and has a long history with Barbados. With over 30 years’ experience working with individuals from all walks of life, she aims to raise awareness of BTB’s life-changing services, collaborating with associates to reach wider audiences in need of mental health and wellbeing support.  Karen has worked tirelessly to develop a treatment programme that combined talking therapy, adventure therapy, restorative medicine and the beauty and peace of nature.

Prior to BTB, Karen spent 20 years in the music business, holding various senior positions within all the major record companies. Working with some of the world’s largest bands, artists, their managers, and record label executives, she saw first-hand the damage that mental health and substance misuse could do to those under the pressure of the music industry at all levels.

After leaving the music industry, Karen became Head of Admissions and Bespoke Services and latterly Business Development Manager for two of the UK’s leading private treatment centres for addictions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, burnout, trauma and stress.

Karen is recognised for working with clients in the strictest of confidence, being level-headed and compassionate. Over the years, she has built up an extensive network of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, ecotherapists, complementary health therapists and life and sober coaches, to deliver high levels of professional and confidential care in the UK and abroad.

Dr Gary Bell BA MBBS FRCPsych

Chief Operating Officer

Chris has been working in the field of mental health and wellbeing with both adults and children since 1999 both as a frontline practitioner but also at senior management level. He has held senior roles of Hospital Director, Operations Manager and Managing Director of an number of public and private healthcare services, both in the UK and abroad. He holds a BSc in social psychology and post grad degree in business as well as qualifications in psychotherapy and a range of other disciplines. He is a senior associate member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Certified International Recovery Specialist and a member of the International Society of Addiction Medicine.

Clinical Supervisor

Jacqui has 33 years specialising in addiction and chemical abuse, psychotherapy, family, and couples’ therapy. Jacqui is a Co-Founder of the Substance Abuse Foundation Barbados and was the clinical director for 12 years. She has studied at the University of Miami in addiction and with Hazelden in chemical dependency. She is an experiential therapist, and for the last 15 years she has been specialising in trauma.  She holds International Society for Experiential Professionals (ISEP) certification. The ISEP certification utilizes many experiential modalities including Art, Adventure, Music, Psychodrama, Sculpting, Somatic Work, Team Building and Yoga/Mindfulness Techniques.

Psychiatrist

Dr Bell is the lead UK psychiatrist to Bespoke Treatment Barbados based in London with special interests in addictions, treatment-resistant anxiety, depressive disorders, perinatal psychiatry, post-traumatic stress disorder and liaison psychiatry especially oncology and pain syndromes. He has held consultant posts at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Dr Bell is also an Honorary Consultant at St Luke’s Hospital and is a Court Assistant of the Society of Apothecaries. He was a Membership Examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists from 1998-2007.

Dr. Silvia Loustric MD

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Silvia Loustric is a medical doctor and trained psychiatrist. She also holds a qualification in psychopharmacology and a master’s degree in Psychopathology and Neurobiology of Behaviour.
Dr Loustric’s experience in mental health extends over 20 years, across South America, Europe and the Caribbean. This experience also includes working with big organisations within the field, including a major pharmaceutical company.
Dr Loustric holds a European Individual Accreditation under the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, where she is also part of the Global Quality Award Accreditation Team.
She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.

Dr Carlisle Goddard MBBS MSc DM FACE FACP FRSPH

Medical Director

Dr. Goddard assumed the role of Medical Director of the Endocrine Centre Inc. in August 2008 but has been a practicing Internist/ Diabetes/ Endocrinologist at the Clinic since 2003. Dr. Goddard is a Consultant Internal/ Diabetes & Endocrinology specialist at the Bay View Hospital. Dr. Goddard is the current CEO of the Barbados Diabetes Foundation and a former lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus).

Malminder Gill

Hypnotherapist

Malminder Gill is widely recognised as one of the best hypnotherapists in the UK, operating a private clinic on Harley Street. She developed The Sleep Concierge®, a worldwide sleep service available at only a few luxury hotels and mental health rehabilitation centres, one of which is Bespoke Treatment Barbados. In 2021, Malminder received the distinction of being recognised as the Highly Commended Therapist of the Year by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).

Dr Sterling Mungal, B.Sc., M.B.B.S., M.P.H.

Medical Lead - Restorative Health

Sterling is a graduate of the University of Toronto, the University of the West Indies, and Harvard University in the USA.

As a trained physician, he has had clinical practices in Family Medicine, Women’s Health, and  Restorative Medicine after specialized training with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

He has lived and worked in Boston, Atlanta, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Lucia. He has worked with World Health Organization in the Caribbean from Belize to Guyana. He has been trained in peptide therapy, stem cell therapy, and gene therapy. He is also trained in supplementation for optimal health.

Dr. Marcus G Lashley SSC B.A (HONS); M.A.; ED.M.; CPC; D.MIN

Spiritual Director and Clinical Psychologist

Marcus is a Spiritual Director, trained Mediator and a state registered Clinical Psychologist with a thriving adult psychotherapy practice. He has special interests in Marriage and Family therapy, addiction counselling, the Enneagram as well as spiritual direction.  This Fulbright scholar is a respected leader and advisor on community outreach, and is heavily involved in social justice advocacy. He has over thirty-five years experience as a lecturer, researcher and pastoral counsellor.

Jomo Phillips, MSSW-MFT (Clinical Fellow, AAMFT)

Couple & Family Therapist

Jomo Phillips, MSSW-MFT, is a couple and family therapist and a clinical social worker. He is a former Fulbright Scholar. Jomo has extensive experience working with people and families struggling with drug and alcohol misuse disorders. His other clinical interests include couple therapy, sex, sexuality, and gender identity. Jomo is a Clinical Fellow and a supervisor candidate with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, he is a published researcher and also offers emotionally focused therapy (EFT).

Dr Janelle Chase-Mayers, M.A

Psychotherapist

Janelle is a Creative and Systemic Therapist and a current PhD student. Janelle has worked as a leading therapist and facilitator for twelve years at the SAF Inc. and Therapeutic Alliance Wellness. She is also a part-time Lecturer at the Barbados Community College and University of West Indies in the Social Work and Psychology divisions. Her teaching specialty is Group Dynamics and Group Interpersonal Relationships. Janelle is additionally a Wellness coach and manages training Elite Athletes and Seniors to optimize their performance.

Professor Andreas Liefooghe MSc PhD CPyschol AFBPsS MBACP

Equine Psychotherapist/Professor of Psychology and Psychotherapy 

Andreas is a life-long horseman and a professor of psychology and psychotherapy. Andreas founded Operation Centaur, Europe’s foremost centre of equine-assisted psychotherapy.​

His latest book providing detailed evidence of the effectiveness of equine-assisted programmes is the benchmark text in the equine-assisted therapy field. Horses respond to us instinctively and without judgement, creating a safe space where we can uncover feelings that are hard to name, or that we did not know we felt. Equine assisted psychotherapy takes place on the ground, no riding is involved, and no prior experience is required.​

Rachel Harris BSc

Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist

Rachel Harris has several years’ experience providing dietetic and nutrition advice and guidance to her clients in her private clinic. With extensive experience as a dietician at the renowned St George’s Healthcare Trust in the UK, she was also the senior dietician at the Atkinson Morley Hospital for Neuroscience. Her main interests lie in chronic diseases, associated risk factors and nutritional biomarkers. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Kings College in London, is working towards a Philosophy PhD in Public Health from the University of the West Indies and is a member of the British Dietetic Association.

Varia Williams

Ayana Hypolite BSC, M.A.

Nicolette Williams

Psychologist

Ayana graduated with a BSc and Masters in Counselling Psychology from Howard University in Washington D.C. and specializes in psycho-education, assessment, grief and group counselling sessions. She has conducted workshops across the Caribbean and is currently enrolled with the California Southern University completing her Doctorate in Psychology. She held a therapy post for the Ministry of Health & the Environment, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and has developed and managed several health initiatives with six country partners (Dominica, Grenada, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia & Barbados) and has maintained a private practice since 2016.

Creative Arts Therapist / Drama & Movement Psychotherapist

Creative Arts and Addiction Mental Health Psychotherapist

Varia holds an MA in Drama and Movement Therapy from the University of London. She is a trained Dramatherapist with years of experience working in the arts specialising in the Sesame approach to Drama and Movement Therapy. She has a wealth of experience in teaching practice working with confronting themes such as conflict resolution, anxiety, depression, race, sexuality, identity, grief, interpersonal relationships and other psycho-social subjects.Varia uses her multi-disciplinary craft to address social, emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns.  She promotes the therapeutic value of the arts to support wellness, healing and balance.

Nicollette is a Barbadian Creative Arts Psychotherapist, a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, Creative Director, Addiction Counsellor, Motivational Speaker and more. Nicollette has worked in psychotherapy for the past 6 years, working with numerous populations. Her empowering platform has been done nationally, regionally and internationally. 

She works with those who have been through mental health illnesses, substance abuse challenges, behavioral issues and emotional distresses using the creative modalities to improve and heal from their challenges. Finding tools for them to cope daily, her unique therapeutic style allows persons to express themselves in a more comfortable way as they find a new way of life in their healing journey holistically. Her methods of healing in therapy are; interactive, therapeutic, healing and authentic.

Sharon Moaze BSc., Ms(c)

Relationship Coach

Sharon holds a degree in Behavioural Science from Andrews University in the USA. Sharon is a Mental Health and Addiction Therapist as well as a Relationship Coach. She works with families, individuals and couples and primarily uses Psychotherapy, Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Therapy with a special interest and focus on attachment-based Family Therapy. Sharon has worked previously with Marina House, a rehabilitative facility for women in addiction in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.  She is also Co Host of the Radio Show ‘Courageous Conversations’ and the Co-Founder of the Courageous Conversations Conference.

Kaya Cole BSc (Hons) Ost

Osteopath

Kaya is a UK trained Osteopath with a Bachelor of Science degree and deep admiration of the form and function of the body. She has 20 years’ experience in massage and myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, yoga, Neurolinguistic Programming, The Bowspring and Functional movement. She has a second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. Kaya’s approach to wellness is focused on bringing balance back to the body/mind through awareness of altered movement patterns and compensations acquired from old injuries, emotional stress, hobbies or sedentary lifestyle.

Samantha Smith RMT

Massage Therapist

Samantha is a Canadian-trained registered massage therapist, specializing in deep therapeutic massage, a technique which is ideal in treating injuries. She also provides Swedish relaxation massages as well as preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscles, connective tissue and joints. After graduating in 2014, she returned to Barbados from Canada and began as a part-time massage therapist. Her goal is to intuitively customize the treatment to each patient’s specific needs and to provide effective messages to everyone she treats.

George is an experienced coordinator of client services and supporting clients on their journey to mental health and well being. George prides himself on the high level of positive feedback he receives from clients ensuring they have an effective and positive treatment experience.

Rara Plumptre

BTB Ambassador

Rara is an extraordinary lady with a fascinating history who is not a stranger to personal adversity. Having arrived back in London in 2012 she set up two businesses from nothing. In 2014 she set up AECS Connections helping large and small businesses move forward with Trust, Transparency, Vision and Value. Rara is very committed to giving back to communities around the world and works with several charities to make a difference to other people’s lives.

Rara says “It is an honour to be asked to be an ambassador for BTB.” She goes on to say that life has taught her that “Adversity brings you two things, a lesson and a blessing - they normally come in that order!”.

Sandra Browne Sampson

Sandy Turf Stables

Sandra opened her stables 26 years ago. A few of the horses are homebred but a large number are thorough bred rescues as well as adoptees from local polo stables and the racetrack where they can be 'retired' to Sandra and a different life. Outside of the riding experiences Sandra offers for individual with special needs, and for those who don't, she also uses the stables for community services opportunities to the underprivilege youth of Barbados and runs programmes for those who want to work in the horse industry, be that exercise riders, grooms, etc. These individuals also help with the special needs children when they come as well as the beach rides, which includes going into the sea with the horses when the ride is completed.
