Women's Empowerment Experience

In a world where visibility often equates to power, many women struggle with being seen. This struggle is not merely about physical presence; it’s about having one’s voice, ideas, and experiences recognised and valued. The difficulty women face in being seen is deeply rooted in historical, societal, and psychological factors that continue to shape their lives today.

Women’s difficulty in being seen often stems from a complex interplay of unconscious fears and systemic barriers, but it’s a struggle that can be overcome.

The struggle for visibility is deeply personal especially at certain stages of life. Empowerment during menopause can help improve the perception of life at this stage and the importance of self-care.  Menopause can be an empowering time for women.

Fostering more women to feel empowered in all areas, paves the way for a more equitable, fair and sustainable future, where everyone stands to benefit. Women possess skills and talents that are crucial for society embrace such as emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience, ability to collaborate and have diverse perspectives, ensuring perhaps even more heart-centred leadership in a world which is calling for change.

BTB Community Work

BTB is a keen supporter of local communities, and we are keen to put something back into the local community, so we are privileged to support Sandy Turf Stables in this area.

Sandra opened her stables 26 years ago. A few of the horses are home bred but a large number are thorough-bred rescues as well as adoptees from the local polo stables and racetrack where they can be “retired” to Sandy Turf Stables and a different life. The stables offers riding experiences, services for individuals with special needs, and also community service opportunities to the underprivileged youth in Barbados. The stable also offers beach rides, which includes going into the sea with the horses when the ride is completed.

Who is BTB

At Bespoke Treatment Barbados (BTB) we provide exclusive health and wellbeing treatment and powerful, effective retreats utilising nature-based therapy and traditional psychotherapy in a Caribbean setting. Our services cater for those struggling with a range of issues such as: low self esteem, feeling lost in life, personal and professional relevance, mid-life crisis, stress, anxiety, burn-out, trauma, depression, relationship and sleep problems. We provide small group retreats, bespoke planned one-to-one treatment programmes, as well as bespoke programmes for couples and families.

BTB is a team of highly qualified, experienced professionals including psychiatrists, general practitioners, psychologists, psychotherapists, hypnotherapists, nature therapists, nutritionists, coaches and other health and well-being professionals. Our multidisciplinary approach to treatment ensures all our clients receive the best chance of achieving long lasting positive mental health and wellbeing. With a commitment to providing innovative evidence-based and compassionate care and by treating our clients with confidence, kindness, dignity and respect we are dedicated to providing a service based on clinical excellence and meeting our clients’ personal needs.

•As its core value, BTB emphasises nature-based therapy such as swimming with turtles and forest breathing. Connecting with another being and ultimately being fully connected within oneself is the special quality of the turtle experience. The feelings that are part of this process – eye contact, connectedness, aliveness and harmony – provide clients with the opportunity to reduce stress, increase relaxation and alleviate depressive states by stimulating production of endorphins and hormones. It is difficult to put into words the experience of taking a dip, eyeball-to-eyeball, with a 90-year-old, 100lb hawksbill turtle but we can say it is a life changing experience. All our sea turtle swims are guided by strict codes of conduct before clients reach the water with a full brief on acceptable behaviour. Touch with your eyes, feel with your heart.
